Manchuria Airplane Manufacturing Company
Manchuria Airplane Manufacturing Company, often called Manshū, was an aircraft maker in Manchukuo during the 1930s and 1940s. It mainly built military planes and parts. It was established in late 1938 as a Japanese-government supervised subsidiary of Nakajima, with its main plant in Harbin.
Between 1941 and 1945, Manshū produced about 2,196 airframes, including 798 combat aircraft. It also built about 2,168 engines. The company repaired many aircraft for the Manchukuo Air Force and for Japanese Army Air Force units stationed in Manchukuo.
Manshū produced aircraft under license from Japan and also designed its own. Of its independent designs, the Ki-79 advanced trainer was mass-produced as the Army Type 2 Advanced Trainer.
