Afanasijs Kuzmins

Afanasijs Kuzmins, born 22 March 1947 in Biķernieki Parish, is a Latvian sport shooter who won two Olympic medals in the 25-meter Rapid Fire Pistol. He took gold for the Soviet Union at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and silver for Latvia at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He also won the 1986 World Championship in 25m Standard Pistol. Kuzmins trained at the Armed Forces sports society in Riga and was coached by Aleksandrs Lescinskis.

He continued to compete in the Olympics later in his career, including the 2004 Games and a wild-card entry in 2008. At age 61, he finished 13th in what was his eighth Olympic appearance. At age 65, he competed again in the 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing 17th.
