The British School of Milan (BSM) is a not-for-profit, co-educational day school in Milan, Italy. It offers a British-style education for students aged 3 to 18 (Nursery to Year 13). It was founded in 1969 by members of the British community and was originally named after Sir James Henderson.

The school is located at Via Carlo Alberto Pisani Dossi, 16 in the Lambrate area, on one campus that brings together Primary and Senior Schools.

BSM follows the UK National Curriculum up to Year 11 and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Years 12 and 13. English is the main language, but the school values cultural diversity and international thinking.

It is regarded as one of Europe’s top IB schools and is the only school in Milan to meet all UK government ISI standards. The school emphasizes creativity through programs in music, art, and drama and hosts Italy’s center for ABRSM music exams.

There are more than 100 co-curricular activities. The school also supports community service through CAS, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and other programs. Three IB Academic Scholarships are awarded each year.

Around 760–800 students attend, supported by about 140 staff. The current Principal is Simon Lockyer. Graduates go on to top universities worldwide, including Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, Imperial College London, LSE, UCL, University of Edinburgh, Trinity College Dublin, Bocconi, and others.

History notes: The school began at Via Mancinelli 3, with a separate Senior School on Viale Lombardia, and moved to the current campus in 1996.
