Turkeycock Mountain

Turkeycock Mountain is a mountain in Franklin and Henry counties in Virginia. It rises in the eastern foothills of the Blue Ridge and stands about 1,657 feet (505 meters) above sea level. A part of the mountain is protected as the Turkeycock Wildlife Management Area and is open to the public.

At the foot of the mountain stood the Samuel Calland family home, dating from the late 1700s. It once had 22 rooms. Today only a one-and-a-half-story, six-room building remains, with an earthen basement. Some original features are still visible, including the high ceiling in the main room, pine wainscoting, a brick chimney, and one staircase.
