Beaver Dam State Park (Nevada)
Beaver Dam State Park is a public recreation area in Lincoln County, Nevada, along Beaver Dam Wash near the Nevada–Utah border, about 25 miles east of Caliente. It covers roughly 2,180 acres (883 hectares) and sits at about 5,200 feet (1,585 meters) above sea level. The park was established in 1935 and is one of Nevada’s first four state parks, managed by the Nevada Division of State Parks.
History highlights: The Civilian Conservation Corps built camping and picnicking areas from 1934 to 1936. Schroeder Reservoir was created in 1961 by an earthen dam. After floods washed out Schroeder Lake in 2005, the reservoir was not rebuilt; in 2009, Schroeder Lake was drained and Beaver Dam Wash was restored to its natural state.
Activities: The park offers picnicking sites, campgrounds, and trout fishing in beaver ponds and streams. There are hiking trails, including the Overlook Trail, which provides a 360-degree view of the park.
Visitation: In 2017, the park received about 618 vehicles.
