Portknockie railway station
Portknockie railway station served the small fishing village of Portknockie in Moray, Scotland. It opened on 1 May 1886, built by the Great North of Scotland Railway on the coast line between Aberdeen and Elgin. The line later became part of the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and then British Railways after nationalisation in 1948. The station had no Sunday services and closed on 6 May 1968 following the Beeching report.
The station had a single platform with a wooden building, a passing loop, and a second platform that was offset from the first, connected by a pedestrian bridge. The line was mainly single track, with a short double-track section between Buckie and Portessie. After closure, the tracks were lifted, the station was demolished, and houses now stand on the site. Much of the old trackbed is now the Sustrans Moray Cycle Route.
