Plot: Mana, played by Niuma Mohamed, and Riffath, played by Yoosuf Shafeeu, are a modern dual‑career couple whose busy lives upset their parents who want a grandchild. When Mana returns from studying abroad, her mood swings begin to strain their relationship, challenging their love and commitment.
Production notes: The project was announced on 20 October 2017 during a celebration of Niuma Mohamed’s 20‑year career, with Mohamed stating this would be her onscreen retirement, though she would continue behind the camera. A teaser was released in November 2017. Filming began on 17 June 2018 on R. Inguraidhoo for ten days, with indoor shoots completed before outdoor work started on 11 July 2018 in Male’. An ensemble cast was revealed in April 2018. The first song, “Reydhanve Mendhanve Dhandhen,” came out on 21 September 2018, followed by two promotional tracks: “Maa Rangalhu Vaaney” and “Sihuru Fadhavi Kamana.” The latter, directed and edited by Aishath Rishmy and Ravee Farooq, became an instant hit after eight days of shooting. The release was initially planned for Mohamed’s birthday, 20 October 2018, but was moved; dubbing was halted due to laryngitis, delaying the film to January 2019.
Reception: Nivairoalhi received mostly positive reviews. Critics praised the performances, especially Ahmed Asim, and the screenplay’s neat structure, though some critics felt the ending was weak.
