KZJK
KZJK, 104.1 FM, known as 104.1 Jack FM, is a commercial radio station licensed to St. Louis Park, Minnesota, serving the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. It is owned by Audacy, Inc. and plays adult hits with a large, varied playlist. The station’s studios are in Minneapolis, and its main transmitter is in Shoreview, broadcasting at 100,000 watts; there is also an auxiliary transmitter at the IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis. KZJK broadcasts in HD Radio, but the HD2 channel that once carried smooth jazz was removed by 2023.
The station first went on the air on July 1, 1962 as KRSI-FM, originally paired with KRSI (AM 950). Over the years it used several call signs and formats, including KFMX with disco in the late 1970s, KJJO with country, classic hits, hard rock, modern rock, and smooth jazz as KMJZ, then WXPT with modern AC as “The Point” before becoming “Mix 104.1” with 1980s hits. On April 21, 2005, after stunting, it became Jack FM; the call letters were changed to KZJK on May 10, 2005. Jack FM is known for its large playlist.
Ownership changed several times: Park Communications, then Nationwide Communications, Jacor, Infinity Broadcasting/CBS Radio, and finally Entercom (now Audacy) after the 2017 merger. KZJK remains the Minneapolis–St. Paul area’s 104.1 Jack FM.
