Brooklyn Dodgers (AAFC)

- The Brooklyn Dodgers were a professional American football team in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) from 1946 to 1948. They are not the same as the earlier NFL Brooklyn Dodgers (1930–43).

- Based in Brooklyn, New York, they played at Ebbets Field and wore Gold & Black (1946–47) and Blue & White (1948).

- They were in the AAFC’s Eastern Division. The Dodgers were founded in 1946 and merged with the New York Yankees after the 1948 season to form the Brooklyn-New York Yankees for 1949.

- The first training camp was held in Bend, Oregon, in summer 1946 with about 62 players under head coach Mal Stevens.

- Preseason games included Portland vs. Chicago Rockets (Aug 18), Spokane vs. New York Yankees (Aug 25), and Akron vs. Cleveland Browns (Aug 30), a 35–20 loss.

- In 1946 they finished second in the Eastern Division with a 3–10–1 record. After seven games, Mal Stevens was replaced by Cliff Battles.

- In 1947 they were 3–10–1 and finished third in the Eastern Division. In 1948 they went 2–10 and finished fourth in the Eastern Division.

- The team’s star was Glenn Dobbs, a passing halfback and All-American from the University of Tulsa.
