Shrewsbury–Lansdowne I-44 station
Shrewsbury–Lansdowne I-44 station is a light rail stop on the Blue Line of the St. Louis MetroLink system. It sits on an embankment near Lansdowne Avenue and River Des Peres Boulevard, close to the border between St. Louis city and the suburb of Shrewsbury. The station has one island platform with two tracks and is accessible by stairs, a switchback ramp, and an elevator. There is a large park-and-ride lot with about 825 spaces, plus a kiss-and-ride area.
Bus connections include MetroBus routes 9, 11, 16, 21, 30, and 56. The station opened on August 26, 2006. In 2018, about 1,523 passengers used the station daily.
Public art at the station includes Aquilone, a sculpture by Doug Hollis installed in 2006 on the embankment, and London, a sculpture by Ben Fehrmann installed in 2014 in the station plaza. The platform was built to accommodate a possible future MetroSouth extension toward River Des Peres or toward South County Center, but there are currently no plans to study that route. For now, the region is focusing on a city route along Jefferson and Natural Bridge avenues.
