Ukrainian Gothic Portal
Ukrainian Gothic Portal (UGP) is a Ukrainian hub for gothic, dark, and electro music. It runs a printed magazine, a web portal, and a promotion agency for Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.
It was founded in 1999, growing from the Kiev Gothic Clan, and officially registered in 2000 on gothic.com.ua. The idea and leadership came from Vitaliy Stranger, with Andrey Featon serving as a chief editor for Gothica magazine.
From 2000 to 2005, UGP became one of the region’s leading dark-music agencies, gaining coverage in local and international press. Its activities included the festival Deti Nochi: Chorna Rada, the Gothica magazine, CD releases on the Tridens label, a radio program, and TV appearances. UGP worked with European partners including Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Castle Party, and with magazines such as Zillo and Orkus.
UGP aims to create, develop, and cover the gothic, dark, and electro scene in Ukraine and the former USSR, and to bring fans together. Notable achievements include organizing Ukrainian bands Komu Vnyz, Dust Heaven, and Grayscale to perform at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in 2004 and 2007. The team continues to grow across Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and other European countries, and is working on a book about the gothic scene in the ex-USSR and Europe.
