Ursus Vodka is a vodka with Icelandic origins. It was produced in Hoorn, Netherlands, until 2006. The name Ursus means "bear" in Latin. The recipe was created by a traditional Icelandic distiller family in the early 1900s. Since 1995, it has been distilled and bottled by Distillery De Hoorn BV in Hoorn, Netherlands, and it was distributed by Ursus Vodka Company NV. In 2004, the brand was acquired by Diageo and is produced by Diageo today. Ursus offered straight vodka and flavored varieties, including Ursus Roter (sloeberry), Ursus Lemon, and Ursus Blackcurrant. The brand sponsored the Pacific Formula One team in 1994, continuing into 1995.
