Colac Botanic Gardens
Colac Botanic Gardens is a regional botanical garden in Colac, Victoria, Australia. It sits at the corner of Fyans and Gellibrand streets by Lake Colac. Land for the gardens was set aside in 1865, and it opened in 1868, created by Daniel Bunce. It was remodelled in 1910 by William Guilfoyle, the director of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. The garden covers 15 hectares and holds over 1,000 plant specimens, more than any other provincial garden in Victoria. It features trees such as bunya bunya pine, Black Matipo, Firewheel Tree, Bird Plant, and Tecate Cypress. Some trees are on the Victorian Significant Tree Register. The gardens are on the Victorian Heritage Register and are owned by the Colac Otway Shire.
