Nat Whittaker
Nat Whittaker (3 February 1863 – 1922) was an English footballer who later became a referee, secretary and manager. He was born in Church, England, and died in London, England.
He played as a half back in the Football League for Accrington before moving to London to take a teaching job, where he also played for Tottenham Hotspur.
After his playing days, Whittaker worked in football administration, serving on the councils of the Football Association, the Referees' Association, the London Football Association and the Southern Football League. He also refereed games in the Football League and the Southern League, including the 1907 FA Cup Final on 20 April 1907.
Whittaker was present at a public meeting on 25 April 1907 that led Croydon Common to become a professional club. He was appointed manager of Croydon Common in December 1909, but was replaced by Dave Gardner in February 1910.
His brother Spen Whittaker was also a footballer and later managed Burnley until his death in 1910.
