2005 Welsh Open (snooker)
The 2005 Welsh Open was a ranking snooker tournament held from January 17–23 at the Newport Centre, Newport, Wales. Ronnie O'Sullivan, the defending World Champion and world No. 1 seed, won the event by beating Stephen Hendry 9–8 in the final, defending his Welsh Open title. The total prize fund was £225,000, with the winner receiving £35,000. The highest break of the tournament was 146, by O'Sullivan. Qualifying took place at Pontin's in Prestatyn from January 7–9.
