Patrik Ćavar
Patrik Ćavar (born 24 March 1971) is a retired Croatian handball player who played mainly as a left wing. He started his career at his hometown club RK Mehanika Metković and later played for Borac Banja Luka, Zagreb (Badel 1862 Zagreb), FC Barcelona, BM Granollers, Agram Medveščak, and Saint-Marcel Vernon in France.
Ćavar represented Yugoslavia at junior level and Croatia from 1991 to 2004, earning 120 national caps and scoring 639 goals. He won Olympic gold with Croatia at the 1996 Atlanta Games and was Croatia’s top scorer for many years. He is the only Croatian handball player to win five European Champions League titles.
During his club career, Ćavar helped Zagreb and Barcelona win numerous domestic and European titles. He received several individual honors, including best Croatian handballer in 1993–94 and 1997, and was named the best left wing at the 1996 Olympics. He retired from handball in 2007 after a stint in France with Saint-Marcel Vernon, leaving a lasting influence on players such as Nikola Karabatić.
