17th Rome Film Festival

The 17th Rome Film Festival took place from October 13 to October 23, 2022 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. It became a competitive festival starting in 2022. The program was announced by Paola Malanga, the festival’s new artistic director, on September 22, 2022. The festival opened with The Hummingbird by Francesca Archibugi, after a short film Luciano Pavarotti, la stella by Gianluigi Toccafondo. The official poster paid tribute to Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman. The Progressive Cinema Competition Best Film award went to January, directed by Viestur Kairish. The festival closed with Forever Young, a French-Italian comedy-drama by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. James Ivory received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The event is organized by the Cinema Per Roma Foundation in Rome.
