Crimson Tears
Crimson Tears is a 2004 beat ’em up game for PlayStation 2. It was developed by DreamFactory and co-published by Capcom and Spike. The story is set in Tokyo in 2049 and follows three main characters whose home has been destroyed.
Gameplay combines real-time combat with dungeon-crawler-style progression. Levels are flat and are generated on the fly using templates, rather than being fixed, pre-made worlds.
Release dates: Japan on April 22, 2004; North America on July 21, 2004; Europe (PAL) on November 5, 2004.
Crimson Tears received mixed reviews. Critics praised its cel-shaded graphics and anime-style cutscenes but criticized the game for its repetitive gameplay.
