John Einarson OM (born 1952) is a Canadian rock music historian, journalist and writer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has written or co-written more than a dozen books, including biographies of Neil Young, the Guess Who, Steppenwolf, the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Ian and Sylvia, and the Flying Burrito Brothers. He has contributed to Mojo, Uncut, Goldmine, the Winnipeg Free Press, and many other publications. He studied at the University of Manitoba and taught high school for 18 years at St. John's-Ravenscourt School. He now leads tours of Winnipeg’s rock history and organized a 2009 Manitoba music history exhibit at the Manitoba Museum; he is in charge of the upcoming Manitoba Music Museum. He wrote a CBC documentary about Randy Bachman and a Juno-nominated documentary on Buffy Sainte-Marie. He began his music career in the 1970s with the Pig Iron Blues Band, played at the Niverville Pop Festival, and, in 1970 at age 17, opened for Led Zeppelin with his band Euphoria after finishing Grant Park High School.
