Louis Dumoulin
Louis-Jules Dumoulin (Paris, 1860–1924) was a French painter. He traveled widely in East Asia, with his first major trip outside Europe in 1888 on an official mission to Japan for the Ministry of Education. Dumoulin was an Orientalist artist who worked within official art circles and carried out several government-sponsored missions. In 1908 he helped start the Colonial Society of French Artists and served as its president until his death in 1924.
