Johann Joseph Couven
Johann Joseph Couven (10 November 1701 – 12 September 1763) was a German Baroque architect. Born in Aachen, he designed religious and secular buildings mainly in Germany, especially around Aachen (for example the Burtscheid Abbey church). His work also extended to Belgium (Eupen and Liège) and the Netherlands (Vaals, Houthem-Sint Gerlach, Oud-Valkenburg). A notable project is the pavilion in the spa garden of Aachen-Burtscheid.
