Walter Lynne
Walter Lynne (fl. 1550) was a Flemish-born publisher and translator who worked in London as a Protestant publisher. He lived at Somers Quay near Billingsgate and also ran a shop at the sign of the Eagle, near St Paul’s School. He was an active reformer, printing and translating religious works and enjoyed the patronage of Thomas Cranmer. His printer’s mark showed a ram and a goat with the initials W. and L. His major publications include The True Belief in Christ and His Sacraments Set Forth in a Dialogue (London, 1550). He also printed a Dutch translation by William Roy with a dedication to Anne, Duchess of Somerset, though Lynne may have only printed the title-page and first leaves, with the rest printed abroad. He published other religious texts during his career.
