Hahnweiler is a very small municipality in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It’s part of the Verbandsgemeinde Baumholder in the Birkenfeld district and sits in the Hunsrück, near the southwestern edge of the district and close to the Saarland border.

History in brief
- In the Middle Ages, Hahnweiler was part of the Veldenz realm. Over time it was governed by various regional rulers and courts.
- After French rule, it became part of the Mairie of Nohfelden and later, from 1819, the Bürgermeisterei of Berschweiler.
- The village has grown slowly over the centuries: 13 houses in 1816, 21 in 1843, and about 186 people by 2023.
- Hahnweiler has a village center and its coat of arms features symbols referencing its medieval ties (Veldenz) and its name (a rooster).
