Gower (Llanrwst electoral ward)

Gower is an electoral ward in the town of Llanrwst, within Conwy County Borough, Wales. It covers the northern part of Llanrwst. Its western boundary is the River Conwy, and its southern boundary (which separates it from Llanrwst’s Crwst ward) is defined by the Nant y Fedwen.

Population: 1,205 (2011 Census).

County council elections: The ward elects one councillor to Conwy County Borough Council. Plaid Cymru has held the seat continuously since 1995. In the May 2017 election, Robert Jenkins of Plaid Cymru won the seat.

Notable event: In June 2004, the sitting councillor Dafydd Parry Jones collapsed and died while campaigning. The ward’s county council election was postponed to 22 July 2004.

Town council: Gower is also a ward for Llanrwst Town Council and is represented by six of the town’s thirteen councillors.
