Oregon Inlet Station
Oregon Inlet Station is a historic lifesaving station near Rodanthe, in Dare County, North Carolina. Built in 1897 by the U.S. Life-Saving Service, it was remodeled in 1933 and again in 1970. The building is a 1 1/2-story rectangular frame in the Shingle Style, with a lookout tower and a porch that surrounds the building. It was one of seven lifesaving stations established on the Outer Banks in 1874 to help ships wrecked along the treacherous North Carolina coast. The station sits on about 10 acres and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
