Austin Dahmer
Austin J. Dahmer is an American official at the U.S. Department of Defense. Since March 17, 2025, he has served as Acting Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. He also held other acting roles: Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities from January 22 to March 17, 2025; and Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy from September 5 to September 24, 2025. He testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee about his confirmation for the Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities post on November 4, 2025.
Dahmer graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in political science and economics. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 2014 to 2019, attaining the rank of Captain.
