Tikrit East Air Base
Tikrit East Air Base was a former Iraqi Air Force facility in Saladin Governorate, Iraq. It served as an auxiliary base and was captured by Coalition forces in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The base had a 9,700-foot runway, a parking ramp, and several support structures. It was attacked by Coalition air forces during the war, leaving numerous bomb craters on the main runway. The Iraqi Air Force abandoned the base after March 2003. Current images show that the nearby operational structures have been demolished or removed, while the concrete runway and taxiways remain but are deteriorating and being reclaimed by the desert.
