Bahgallah
Bahgallah is a small farming town in Victoria, Australia, located south of the Glenelg Highway. At the 2016 census, 35 people lived there.
The traditional owners of the area are the Gunditjmara people, represented by the Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
Demographics: The median age is 54. The population is mostly male (57.5%) than female (42.5%). The average household size is 1.7 people.
History and school: A wooden school was built in Bahgallah in 1875. Before that, local children often went to denominational schools in Tasmania or to three schools in Casterton. A local committee proposed building a Bahgallah school in 1872, and it opened in 1875 with 20 students. By the end of that year, 55 children were enrolled. Since then, 35 teachers have taught more than 800 children at the school.
War memorial: The Bahgallah Soldiers Memorial Hall has an honor roll listing 38 Old Scholars and 14 District Volunteers who joined World War I; 15 of them lost their lives.
