Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Congo is the official representative of Russia’s president and government to the Republic of the Congo. The ambassador and staff work at the Russian embassy in Brazzaville. The current ambassador is Ilyas Iskandarov, in place since 16 January 2024. Russia and the Republic of the Congo established diplomatic relations on 16 March 1964. The first ambassador was Ivan Spitsky, appointed on 21 July 1964. After the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, the then-Soviet ambassador Anatoly Zaytsev continued as Russia’s ambassador until 1994.
