2019 AFC Cup final
2019 AFC Cup Final
The 2019 AFC Cup final decided Asia’s secondary club competition for that year. It was played on November 4, 2019, at Kuala Lumpur Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The match was a single game between April 25 of North Korea and Al-Ahed of Lebanon.
Al-Ahed won 1–0, with the only goal scored by Ghanaian Issah Yakubu. Yakubu was named Man of the Match. This victory gave Al-Ahed their first continental title and marked the first time a Lebanese club had won a continental competition.
April 25 became the first North Korean men’s club to reach an Asian final; Al-Ahed were the third Lebanese club to reach a final (after Nejmeh in 2005 and Safa in 2008).
The final was originally set for November 2 at Kim Il-sung Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea, but North Korea banned television transmissions of football games. The AFC moved the final first to Shanghai, China, and then to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the date changed to November 4.
Attendance was about 500, and the weather was mostly clear at around 27°C.
