2004 Anaheim Angels season

The 2004 season was the Angels’ 44th in the American League and 39th in Anaheim, with home games at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. They finished with a 92–70 record, winning the American League West for the fourth time in franchise history and their first since 1986.

In the playoffs, Anaheim’s run ended quickly as they were swept by the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series; Boston went on to win the World Series.

This season was also notable as the last under the “Anaheim Angels” name. The team would rename itself the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim the following year.

Vladimir Guerrero won the American League Most Valuable Player award, the first Angels player to earn MVP since Don Baylor in 1979.
