1974 U.S. Women's Open
The 1974 U.S. Women’s Open, the 29th edition of the tournament, was held July 18–21 at La Grange Country Club in La Grange, Illinois, near Chicago. The course was a par-72, and the event was part of the LPGA Tour organized by the USGA. The prize fund was $40,000, with the winner receiving $6,073.
Sandra Haynie won by one stroke, finishing at 295 (+7). After a double bogey, she sank birdie putts from 70 and 15 feet on the final two holes to beat Carol Mann and Beth Stone. Haynie had won the LPGA Championship, the previous major, a month earlier.
