Skinny Blonde
Skinny Blonde is a low-carb blonde ale from Australia. It was created by Hamish Rosser, the drummer of The Vines, winemaker Richie Harkham, and artist Jarod Taylor. The beer is sold in Australia and won the People’s Choice award at the 2008 Australian Beer Festival in The Rocks, Sydney. In June 2009, the bottle packaging caused controversy for showing a pin‑up girl named Daisy who slowly reveals herself as the beer level drops and the bottle warms. Some health and women’s groups said the label objectified women. Rosser said the design reflects Australian beach culture and that it’s meant to be cheeky fun. Separately, Oban Bay Brewery in Scotland began producing a blonde ale also called Skinny Blonde in 2009 on a 5-barrel plant.
