Winter Wheat is the second solo album by John K. Samson. It was released on October 21, 2016, on the ANTI- label. This was his first new material since The Weakerthans paused in 2015. The album, which mixes folk and indie sounds, was produced by Jason Tait and Christine Fellows, with contributions from Greg Smith. In an interview, Samson said the record can feel like a new Weakerthans album at times rather than just a solo project. Winter Wheat was longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2017.
