The Sacha guinea pig, scientifically named Cavia patzelti, is a small rodent native to Ecuador. Not much is known about its population, so the IUCN lists it as Data Deficient (IUCN 3.1). The species was described in 1982 by Schliemann and belongs to the genus Cavia in the family Caviidae.
