Alexander Hammick

Rear-Admiral Alexander Robert Hammick (16 February 1887 – 1969) was a Royal Navy officer who served in both World War I and World War II. He joined the Navy in January 1903 as a cadet on the armored cruiser HMS Hogue in the Channel Squadron. He was promoted to lieutenant on 31 December 1908 and to commander on 30 June 1922. Hammick commanded the heavy cruiser HMS Sussex from 1938 to 1940, and then served as chief of staff to the Flag Officer-in-Charge, Greenock, from 1940 to 1942.
