Walter Altherr
Walter Altherr (born 11 July 1946) is a German politician from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and a former member of the Bundestag. He is a surgeon by profession.
He joined politics early, becoming a member of the Junge Union in 1961 and the CDU in 1965. He served as mayor of Mittelbrunn starting in 1978. In 1986 he joined the district executive of Kaiserslautern-Land, and in 1989 he moved to the district council of Kaiserslautern. In the 1990 federal elections, Altherr was elected to the Bundestag via the Rhineland-Palatinate state list and served until 1994. He later served in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1996 to 2006.
