Al-Nida' (Kuwait)
Al-Nida' (The Call) was an Arabic-language newspaper published in Kuwait City during the Iraqi occupation from August 1990 to January 1, 1991. After Iraq invaded Kuwait, authorities shut down the al-Qabas newspaper and started Al-Nida' using its facilities. It was the only Kuwait newspaper at that time, distributed for free in Kuwait and also sold in Jordan. The paper printed speeches by Saddam Hussein and official Iraqi decrees. It stopped publishing on January 1, 1991, with no public explanation. After the occupation ended, 24 former Al-Nida' employees were tried in a Martial Law Court.
