Leofoo Village Theme Park
Leofoo Village Theme Park, in Guanxi, Hsinchu County, Taiwan, is a combination theme park and safari. It opened in 1979 as Leofoo Wildlife Park and was renamed in 1989.
The park has four themed zones: Arabian Kingdom, African Safari, South Pacific, and Wild West. Highlights include Screaming Condor (an inverted shuttle coaster), Sahara Twist (an Intamin twist-and-turn coaster), and Little Rattler (a small Vekoma coaster in Wild West). The Nairobi Express is a narrow-gauge train around the park.
In African Safari you can see animals from a safari ride by train or bus, with bears, tigers, lions, and baboons among the sights.
Other attractions include Flying Horse (a dark ride monorail) and Sultan's Adventure (a fast jeep ride) in Arabian Kingdom; Pagoda's Revenge (a drop tower) and Mighty Mountain Flume Adventure in South Pacific. Wild West features live shows, rides, and the Big Canyon Rapids.
In 2023, a baboon escaped from Leofoo and was killed; the park apologized after admitting the baboon came from the park.
The park remains open for visitors today, offering rides, animal viewing, shows, and a safari experience.
