Vile is an American death metal band from Concord, California, formed in 1996 by guitarist-producer Colin E. Davis and singer Juan Urteaga. Over the years the lineup has changed a lot, and Davis remains the only original member. They released four albums between 1999 and 2011: Stench of the Deceased, Depopulate, The New Age of Chaos, and Metamorphosis, along with early demos Unearthed and Vile-ation. Their sound blends fast Floridian-style riffs with catchy grooves, influenced by Morbid Angel, and Cannibal Corpse helped boost their early publicity. Vile toured the U.S. and Europe (including a 2004 Cannibal Corpse run) and played in Japan in 2013, with label deals that included Relapse, Listenable, Unique Leader, Willowtip, and Hammerheart. Recording for Metamorphosis began in 2009 and the album was released in 2011; Davis also runs Imperial Mastering. The band is currently on hiatus as Davis works with The 01EXPERIENCE.
