Øvre Vang Church
Øvre Vang Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Hamar Municipality, Innlandet county. It sits in the village of Slemsrud and serves the Vang parish within the Hamar domprosti of the Diocese of Hamar. The red wooden church was built in 1907 in a cruciform design, based on plans by architects Johan Joachim Meyer and Andreas Bugge. It seats about 300 people. Planning for a new annex chapel began in 1901 by the Vang municipal council, and construction took place from 1903 to 1907. The building is a half-timbered cruciform church, but its cross-arms are short and the interior is arranged as a long church. It has a west tower above the porch, a choir in the east, and sacristies on each side of the choir. The church was consecrated on 28 August 1907 by Bishop Christen Brun. It was originally named Vangsaasen kapell (later Øvre Vang kapell) and was later upgraded to parish church status, giving Vang parish two churches. The church is protected as a Norwegian cultural heritage site (ID 85931).
