Sproing Award

The Sproing Award is given by Norsk Tegneserieforum (NTF) in Norway to celebrate comics. Since 1987 there are two main prizes: Best Norwegian Strips (a comic by a Norwegian) and Best Translated Strips (an international comic translated into Norwegian). Since 2003 there is also a Best Comics Debut prize. Each year a jury at NTF’s annual meeting reads all of the year’s publications and selects five nominees for the Norwegian and International categories, and three nominees for the Debut category. At first, voting was limited to NTF members, but in the 2000s the public was allowed to vote as well.
