Crenshaw Crossing, also called Crenshaw, is an unincorporated community in Williamson County, Illinois. It lies between Marion and Energy along Crenshaw Road in West Marion Precinct. The area sits at about 443 feet above sea level and uses ZIP code 62959 and area code 618. In 1958, it had an estimated population of around 50 people. The Lester coal mine lies to the south. Parts of the Herrin Massacre in June 1922 occurred nearby, with replacement workers and mine guards moved from the mine to Crenshaw Crossing and then toward Moake Crossing and the Power Plant woods, where the violence began. The name "crossing" comes from the Coal Belt Electric Line interurban railroad that crossed Crenshaw Road at that point.
