Baseball Ireland
Baseball Ireland, also known as the Irish Baseball and Softball Federation, is the governing body for baseball and softball on the island of Ireland, covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It runs the Irish Baseball League and the national baseball team. Founded in 1989 to grow the sport in Ireland, organized baseball has been played here since the late 1990s. In 1995–1996, visiting Major League Baseball coaches helped train players and supported the formation of Ireland’s first national senior team, which competed in the 1996 European Championships in Hull, England. Baseball Ireland is affiliated with WBSC and WBSC Europe and is headquartered in Cabinteely, Ireland. The president (as of 2022) is Sean Mitchell. The official website is baseballireland.ie.
