Sprocket hole photography

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

Sprocket hole photography is a style that uses the full width of perforated film, so the image shows the sprocket holes along the edges of the frame. The most common film is 35mm, but other perforated sizes could theoretically be used. To capture the edges, photographers load the film in a camera in a way that exposes the edges, often with adapters or by wrapping 35mm film onto medium-format backing paper. There are cameras made for this, such as Lomography’s Sprocket Rocket.
