Steve Perman is a Democratic politician and chiropractic physician from Florida. He was born on March 26, 1957, in Queens, New York, and grew up in Oceanside. He went to Emory University and earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1979. Perman practiced as a chiropractor, moved to Florida in 1993, and lives in Boca Raton with his wife, Irene Budd, and their two children, Benjamin and Arielle.

Perman served in the Florida House of Representatives for the 78th district from November 2010 to November 2012. He had earlier attempts to win a seat: he challenged incumbent Richard Machek in 2006 and lost, and in 2008 he ran in a Democratic primary won by Kevin Rader. In 2010, Rader did not seek re-election to the House, and Perman was elected to succeed him unopposed.

In 2012, after redistricting, Perman ran in the 81st district against Rader in the Democratic primary and lost, 57% to 43%. He later ran in 2014 for the 96th district in northeastern Broward County to succeed Jim Waldman but was defeated in the Democratic primary by Kristin Jacobs, 76% to 24%.

Perman is a chiropractor by trade and has been involved in politics as a dedicated public servant focusing on his district’s interests.
