The Top of His Head is a 1989 Canadian comedy-drama film directed by Peter Mettler. The story follows Gus, a satellite dish salesman whose life changes when he meets Lucy, a politically radical performance artist who is on the run. It stars Stephen Ouimette as Gus and Christie MacFadyen as Lucy. It was shot in Toronto in fall 1987 and premiered in the Perspective Canada program at the 1989 Festival of Festivals. The soundtrack was by Fred Frith, with Jane Siberry contributing the song "This Old Earth," which was nominated for Best Original Song at the 1990 Genie Awards. The song also appeared on Siberry's 1989 album Bound by the Beauty as "Something About Trains." The film received Genie nominations for Best Actor (Ouimette) and Best Original Screenplay (Mettler).
