James T. Powers
James T. Powers (born James T. McGovern) was an American stage actor, singer, and lyricist. He was born April 26, 1862, in New York City and died in February 1943 in New York City. He began acting in Boston in 1880, and also spent time in circuses and vaudeville. In the 1890s, he appeared in many American versions of the Gaiety musicals from London's West End, and his career was spent entirely in live theatre. He has one film credit, a 1905 short called Digesting a Joke. He married actress Rachel Booth on May 19, 1892, in Rochester, New York; they toured together in several productions and lived at the Ansonia hotel in New York City. Powers wrote an autobiography, Twinkle Little Star, published in 1939.
