Benjamin Seymour Guinness
Benjamin Seymour Guinness (18 November 1868 – 15 December 1947) was an Irish businessman, banker, and lawyer from Dublin. He came from the Guinness banking family; his father was Richard Seymour Guinness, and his grandfather founded Guinness Mahon, a merchant bank.
Guinness joined the Royal Navy in 1882 and retired in 1892 with the rank of Lieutenant. He later lived in New York, where he was a director of several companies, including the New York Trust Company, Lackawanna Steel, Kansas City Southern Railway, Seaboard Air Line Railroad, Duquesne Light Company, and United Railroads of San Francisco. He was also a partner in Ladenburg Thalmann. He had a son, Loel Guinness.
In 1936 he married Donna Maria Nunziante di Mignano, daughter of the Italian Duke of Mignano. She was made a Princess by King Umberto II in 1946, and on the same day Guinness was given the title of Prince. After his death in 1947, his widow and son fought over his estate.
