Science in Action (TV series)
Science in Action was a weekly 30-minute science TV show produced by the California Academy of Sciences. It aired from 1950 to 1966, making it one of the first live science programs on American TV (Johns Hopkins Science Review ran earlier, from 1948 to 1955). A total of 566 episodes were produced. Dr. Tom Groody hosted the show for its first two years, then Dr. Earl S. Herald led the program for the remaining fourteen years until it ended in 1966. The series helped shape later popular science TV, influencing programs like NOVA and the Discovery Channel.
